History
Only if something is given time enough to thrive and prosper will it end up being good and constant. Who would be better aware of this than a traditional family-run company that has been working with the material wood for decades now?
In 1924 Friedrich Hatzel with his son Otto Hatzel established a carpenter’s workshop at Wiesenfeld near Coburg, the foundation for a family enterprise that today is still run by the family in the fourth generation.
With technical prowess and commercial skills the founders soon managed to establish themselves as specialists for wooden boxes and cases. The name Hatzel panned out at home and abroad as a term for quality and that something special. They did not fail either to continuously invest in staff and machinery.
Constantly new fields of activity were developed without the carpenter’s workshop departing from the traditional base of its origins as a handicraft. It then proved to be a stroke of luck when Hatzel started the? production of artists` easels in the 1960’?s. This both functional as well
as attractive wooden furniture in the meantime enjoys the same approval as the wooden packagings Made by Hatzel.
The offspring continued the success story of this carpenter’s workshop: Kurt, the son, took over the helm in 1972, his son, Stefan, in turn, doing the same 26 years later. First-class wooden products that hold their ground in the face of international competition are still manufactured today on a 6,000 sq.m. production and office area in Wiesenfeld supported by modern machinery.

From run-of-the-mill to the very special
Wood is actually something quite run of the mill. Properly speaking. But as the basis of a product packaging, this renewable, sustainable material has its own special attraction und outshines? any other material. You only have to utilise its properties properly.
No matter whether it’s a matter of functional utility packagings or of representative presentation of products or brands: Hatzel always finds just the right, fitting shape and suitable material. Domestic wood species are used, as are plywood and imported ware. Combining different materials – for
example, stainless steel plus oak – upvalues the packaging even more.
With regard to the packaging form, Hatzel designs not only the optimum exterior view, but also inside partitions fitting the product concerned – from the classical grid partitioning to clever individual solutions. Selection and attachment of the fittings is done with the same care as the woodworking
itself.
Hatzel takes care of lettering on the packaging in silk-screen, pad printing or by brand marks in their own shop. An attractive colour scheme enables both an !!aesthetic as well as sales-promoting effect to be obtained with text and graphic elements. Packing will likewise be taken care of should the
customer request it.
